Library & Media Center

The mission of Saint Bernadette School Library is to foster a love of reading in a Christ-centered environment. The library is also a media center meant to aid in developing media literacy in our students to prepare them with the skills needed to responsibly engage in our media-rich world.

For students in kindergarten through third grade, library time allows students to choose books and enjoy read alouds. Students also engage in activities that introduce them to different forms of media and help them develop media literacy skills that serve them in their regular classroom time.

For students in grades four through eight, their time in the media center allows them to extend their learning with Project Based Learning Activities. PBLs encourage critical thinking and creativity by giving students an essential question that they seek to answer through a project. Each PBL is aligned with grade level standards, serving as an extension of students' regular classroom learning. library/media center time includes exercises to strengthen students’ research skills and familiarize them with INFOhio resources.

This year, we are happy to welcome full day preschool to the library! While preschool students do not check out books, they enjoy read alouds and quiet activities as they are introduced to the school library.
