COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE
The Community Action Committee brings together resources from the parish - both vounteers and many kinds of donations - to supply local hunger centers and charitable organizations. Financial proceeds fromthe red border envelopes are distributed each month to these organizations.
At Christmas Time this group oversees the Adopt-A-Family Program where people from the parish as well as entire classes at St. Bernadette buy gifts and food for an entire family in need. Felicia Madden is coordinator for this outreach as well as being chairperson for the CommunityAction Committee.
On the second and fourth Wednesday of the month vounteers meet in Dempsey Hall to assemble a total of 2,500 sandwiches. These sandwiches are then delivered by the volunteers to hunger centers such as Catholic Hunger Center, St. Vincent de Parul, St. Malachi Center. Coordinator of this event is Bill Gee.
On the second Wednesday, every other month, St. Bernadette volunteers prepare the whole meal for St. Patrick's (Bridge Ave.) Evening Meals. Coordinator of this program is Cathy Schultz.
