Parish Leadership

The Parish Leadership consists of two main committees: Parish Pastoral Council and the Parish Finance Committee.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

The Parish Pastoral Council is a leadership body within the parish whose role is to develop and implement a mission-focused pastoral plan for the parish.

As servants to the wider community, Parish Pastoral Councils provide parishioners with forums for consultation and reflection on the mission of theChurch in light of the signs of the times in the local neighborhood and the world.

Their planing begins with a parish-wide dialogue on the mission of the Church, the perceptions of the community, and the current reality of the parish. When completed, this information gathered from these dialogues is taken by the PPC and the pastor and used to create a pastoral plan for the future.

Parish Pastoral Council members are parish leaders charged with developing other leaders whom they call forth to implement and achieve the goals of the pastoral plan.

PARISH FINANCE COMMITTEE

Every parish in the Diocese of Cleveland is required to have a parish Finance Council. The Code of Canon Law mandates a Finance Council in each parish (Canon 537). The finance Council is a consultative body which makes recommendations to the Pastor. The Pastor is to consult th Parish Finance Council on matters of a major financial concern. Additionally the finance council should assist the pastor in dealing with financial planning, policies, and procedures. Specifically, the council will assist the pastor with financial plans and policies to:
          set a basic direction and select the best strategies to promote this direction

          provide a guide for future actions, particularly in areas that impact upon parish finances;
          provide clear direction while allowing room for creative, flexible action by those who will implement policies.

The Code of Canon Law, Canon 1284 requires an annual report. Diocesan policy requires tht financial information be fully disclosed to the Finance Council and the parishioners. The following information should be disclosed to the parishioners:

          1.) a complete accounting of all parish receipts and expenditures, with reasonable summary groupings of revenue and expense categories.

          2.) a listing of all parish assets, including a summary of all checking, savings, and investmentaccounts for all accounts that use the federal identification number of the parish

          3.) the total amount of indebtedness or other financial obligations of the parish, including any amounts owed to vendors or the Diocese of Cleveland for past due obligations, if applicable.
