Funeral Services

Dear Parishoner,

The Parish Community and I extend to you our deepest sympathy during this time of your grief. We desire to be with you and assist you in any way we can.

The Funeral Liturgy, the Wake and committal Services are important times for you to gather with your family and friends.  St. Paul reminds us, "We mourn, but we do not despair" at the loss of the one we love.

The Wake Service is a time to receive friends and to gather around the body of the departed. Your sorrow and your faith are shared as stories of the individual's life and family traditions are recalled. The Wake Service is the time to have a family member or friend tell the story of the deceased's life in a fitting eulogy. Those eulogies many times do not enhance the Liturgy of the Mass.

At the Funeral Liturgy, we remember the Death and Resurrection of Jesus. We ask that the grace and merits of Jesus be applied to the life and soul of the deceased. We pray that their experience of Purgatory will be brief. The Mass is not about the deceased, but about the Lord, who gave His life for all.

The Committal Service at the cemetery is filled with hope. Just as Jesus rose from the dead, so now we too can look forward to the day of resurrection and await the final reunion with all those we have loved.

Know that we as a Parish Community remain concerned for you and your family in the coming weeks and months ahead.

Sincerely in the Risen Christ,

Father Philip G. Racco

In the event of a death, please contact the Parish Office to notify the Pastor. After the family chooses a funeral home, the Funeral Director, or the family, may contact the Pastor or priest directly to coordinate the funeral Mass (or Memorial Mass).
