Who We Are

In partnership with faculty and staff, the Parent Teacher Union strives to support and enhance the educational experience of every student through faith-based initiatives and active engagement in school activities. Together, we are committed to nurturing a compassionate and collaborative environment where academic excellence and spiritual growth thrive.
1. To support the Mission of the Parish and the School;
2. To help advance Catholic Education and the welfare of all the children of the school;
3. To provide an opportunity for parents and teachers to work together for the good of the school;
4. To work closely with the parish administration and the school administration and its teachers, to provide supplementary educational programs, purchase additional equipment and help fulfill classroom needs;
5. To provide financial support to the school by sponsoring fundraisers throughout the academic year; and
6. To encourage social, spiritual, and educational interactions within the school community by sponsoring different activities.
The St. Bernadette PTU shall seek to improve the quality of education for all students at St. Bernadette School.
The St. Bernadette PTU shall encourage the involvement of all parents/guardians and teachers of St. Bernadette School.
The St. Bernadette PTU shall not engage in any activities that are counter to St. Bernadette School or Parish policies and procedures.
The St. Bernadette PTU shall not seek to direct the administrative activities of the school or control its policies.

St. Bernadette’s Parent Teacher Union (PTU) is a volunteer group of parents who organize and support various school activities, fundraisers, and events, contributing resources and volunteer efforts to improve school facilities and programs. Additionally, the PTU advocates for educational improvements and helps create a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes academic excellence and overall well-being for all students.
In recent years, the PTU has been able to support new books for the School Library, Chrome Books for the Junior High, Recess Equipment for the Playground, Scholarships for 8th graders entering high school, along with assisting with other school needs. The PTU has also worked on fundraising efforts to support Catholic Schools Week, Power of the Pen and many other programs that allow our children to grow as a Catholic School community.
Every St. Bernadette parent & guardian is an important part of our school community, and there are plenty of ways to participate - whether you have an hour to give, want to help with one event, or would like to take on a larger volunteer role. Helpful Resources

General PTU meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of every other month. We will alternate between in-person meetings (in the evening) and virtual meetings. Meetings are informal and open to all parents and guardians of students enrolled at St. Bernadette School.
For those who cannot attend in-person, you are always welcome to join virtually via Google Meet (link provided in Barking Bulldog). No password required.
Meeting notes will be published at the conclusion of every meeting and shared via the Barking Bulldog. Once published, you’ll be able to view them via the link below.
